Why some dashboards can be a distraction.

And the one question good dashboards always answer.

“Our new dashboard has all of the KPIs we want to track”

In my experience, a one stop shop of metrics is not the answer. It can become a distraction.

This cartoon sums it up perfectly:

A good dashboard will answer one key question:

“How do I know I’m on track?”

The Sydney Swans take on the Brisbane Lions in the AFL Grand Final this weekend. The last time they battled for the premiership was in the 1899 VFL Grand Final, when the Lions (Fitzroy) defeated the Swans (South Melbourne) by one point.

The last time we had a grand final with no Victorian clubs involved was in 2006, when the West Coast Eagles defeated the Sydney Swans by one point.

Will the margin be one point again this weekend?
