One tip: Cost Control
Welcome to my newsletter “Behind the Numbers”.
A fortnightly newsletter where I share my Finance tips for Operational Leaders and their teams. I may also share an interesting sporting stat along the way.
For those of you who know my story you’ll get why numbers and sport are so much part of who I am.
One tip: Cost Control
Need to get your costs under control? Here is a tip to get you started.
No complex calculations.
No spreadsheets.
No jargon.
Just one key question to get you started. And you can ask it now.
Do you find yourself sifting through rows and rows of cost data at the end of each month?
If so, does this sound familiar:
“It’s hard to understand the costs if I don’t know where the data is coming from.”
I hear this a lot from Budget Owners who attend my Finance for Non Finance Managers workshop.
Cost control is less about the numbers.
And more about how people understand the impact of their actions.
I refer to this as understanding “what’s behind the numbers”.
Want to get your costs under control?
Then ask: “How did that get here?”
I’ve put together a one page guide to help you put this into practice.
One sporting stat
The inaugural AFL “Gather Round” has been labelled a success with nearly 220,000 fans attending the 9 matches that were all played in Adelaide on the weekend.
It is estimated over 60,000 fans came from outside South Australia.
Not a bad windfall for South Australian coffers.
